Abu Dhabi’s quotient of aircraft enthusiasts is set to soar this month, as leaders of the emirate’s rapidly expanding aviation sector showcase the thrill of flight at the annual Al Ain Aerobatic Show.
Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies and Mubadala – organisations which are at the core of Abu Dhabi’s emergence as an aviation centre of excellence - will host a variety of activities designed to excite the imaginations of those who witness the aerobatic spectacular, which takes place 27th – 30th January at Al Ain International Airport.
Faisal Al Sheikh, Head - Major Events Division of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), organiser of the globally renowned aerobatics event, said: “Partners of the Al Ain Aerobatic Show do more than just align with the event, each enhances it by facilitating a crucial element or providing a unique experience for all involved. The Al Ain Aerobatic Show is Al Ain’s largest and longest running sporting event; it’s a strategic vehicle in which to promote the diversity of Abu Dhabi’s tourism assets, whilst inspiring Abu Dhabi’s future aviation leaders.”
Etihad’s A340-600 aircraft painted in Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix livery will conduct a rare fly-by at the Middle East’s premier aerobatics event. Mr. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “The Al Ain Aerobatic Show is renowned across the world and we are thrilled to once again partner with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and actively support this exciting and important event for the emirate.”
Faris Al Mazrouei, General Manager of Al Ain International Airport said, “ADAC has been a key partner of the Al Ain Aerobatic Show since its inception and this is its third year as host sponsor. Al Ain International Airport provides the perfect location and framework to host this four-day event and we look forward to welcoming many visitors to the show this year,”
Mubadala will play host to budding aerospace engineers with students from across the UAE visiting the aerobatic show to learn about the industry. Young photographers will also get to show off their snaps of the air displays for a special photography competition being judged by Mubadala Aerospace.
According to Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technology’s (ADAT’s) Chief Executive Officer, John Byers, involvement of aviation partners is critical in engaging the community and inspiring passion for the industry. “The love of flying is an intuitive feeling and it’s an emotion shared by everyone who works at ADAT,“ he said. “ADAT hopes to use its involvement in the Al Ain Aerobatic Show as a catalyst for building awareness of what the company stands for. The aerobatic show is an adrenaline-packed event, full of youthfulness, enquiring minds and enthusiasm, which are exactly the sorts of personal characteristics ADAT is looking for in prospective employees.”
Held under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Al Ain Aerobatic Show is organised by ADTA and the UAE Air Force and is supported by an extensive list of sponsors. These include gold sponsors Etihad, Pilatus, Al Ain Water and Abu Dhabi National Hotels, along with silver sponsors Mubadala Aerospace, ADAT, Al Ain Municipality and Panasonic. Costa is the official retailer and will partner with The National, a leading UAE English language daily newspaper, to create ‘The National Costa Coffee Lounge’ – a relaxed venue to grab a coffee and paper. Mercedes Benz meanwhile will provide the official vehicles.
