The world’s only formation wingwalking team, Team Guinot, are flying high after landing the amazing opportunity of displaying in the United Arab Emirates 24th – 27th January at Al Ain International Aerobatic Championships.
After a successful summer completing over 80 displays across Europe, the world-famous Boeing Stearman biplanes will not be heading for the hanger this winter but instead will be containerised and shipped to UAE.
The team performed at Al Ain in 2004 and are delighted to return;“We enjoyed a fabulous reception from the public last time we displayed at Al Ain and the desert landscape created a wonderfully dramatic backdrop for our performance” says Director of Flying Martyn Carrington.
The international appeal of the team comes as no surprise to Team Leader Vic Norman; “Wingwalking captures the imagination of the public world-wide and wherever we travel we create a buzz.
“We work hard to thrill every audience with an adrenaline pumping show of formation aerobatics while daring wingwalkers wave from the top wing.”
The Guinot wingwalkers will experience up to 4G as they loop through the skies above Al Ain. To excite the crowds the lead aircraft will roll inverted while the formation biplane moves beneath and the two wingwalkers attempt to hold hands as the perfect mirror image. For their final flypast the brave girls will un-strap themselves from their wing-riding rigs to wave at the crowd from a position between the cockpit and the wing; now that’s truly high flying!
