Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC)

Abu Dhabi Airports Company, ADAC, is a joint-stock company wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Government. It was incorporated on March 4th, 2006, to spearhead the development of the Emirate's aviation infrastructure.

ADAC has officially taken over the operation and management of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain international Airports, as of 28/09/2006. It is already implementing a US$6.8 billion programme of re-development and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport, to support the Emirate’s ambitious drive to become a leading business and tourist hub. The programme- featuring two more passenger terminals, a second runway, a new air traffic control tower, an airport free zone, and a state-of-the-art cargo complex- will raise the airport’s capacity to 20 million passengers by 2011, with room for ultimate expansion to 40 million passengers.

The Emirate’s second airport of Al Ain is also emerging as a sought after hub on account of the city’s strategic location on the crossroads of international air and sea routes. Plans for Al Ain International Airport will see the airport evolve as a regional cargo hub and a low cost carrier centre. Recently, MIDEX AIRLINES, the UAE’s first all-cargo carrier, has chosen Al Ain International Airport as their home base and main hub for their international cargo business. The airline will initially operate scheduled flights daily to all six destinations in Europe and Asia.
